Can anyone provide details of companies who provide Fire Risk assessment training in Scotland.

looking at your website.... at the end of the two day training, would that make me "competent" to carry out a fire risk assessment in someone elses premises??

In short, what does actually qualify anyone to do the assessment to comply with the Reform Regs??

David,

With due respect.  I would not consider simply attending a two day training programme would constitute you being able to carry out FRA's on another companies premise.

The IFE have a route to be a verrified assessor and hopefully this link works to give you more information regarding doing just that.

I know that Colin Todd runs, I think, a five day session that will assist you in becoming approved by the IFE.

Competence is the answer.  2 days might be enough for some people but others might need longer.  NEBOSH is good, Nebosh fire and risk management better, Colins 5 days course is ok, IFC do something similar.  However, that is only the training part of competent you need the other bits from the efinition as well.

Agree Jokar.

The point I was making, although it would seem rather poorly, is that the rout to becoming a fire risk assessor is not as simple as merely attending a training session here and there and I think think the flow chart / route to becoming an assessor points that out better than I have.

David, the FRA courses are designed for management to impliment future assessments after an initial assessment. It isn't designed to make a Fire Safety Consultant out of delegates after a two day course.

I agree with Jokar , you can train people but you can't give them experience.
