What is the expected wait likely to be?

Hi all,

I am wanting joining the fire service (wholetime) and have recently requested a place to attend a Recruitment Awareness Session (Royal Berkshire).....I am 24 (too late??) and seriously starting to think of my future.

At the minute i was just wondering about some hypotheticals -

Hypothetically speaking, once you have completed all the tests and interviews (saying that you passed all the way down the line and were now looking to start your traineeship) , what sort of a waiting list are you looking at before you get posted?
 I am aware that stations only take new recruits whilst in 'recruiting' (if that makes sense) and i know that Royal Berks applications had to be in by March 07 and say they are recruiting in the autmn. I was wondering ,on average, how long a wait there is before stations may require new firefighters or at least start the recruiting process again?

Sorry to waffle on, so many things i want to know!!

Jezza. Cant be sure about the other stuff but you are certainly not too late. I recently tutored a trainee course where there were at least three trainees who were over 40. And to be honest the older the better as far as I am concerned as the more mature students are far easier to teach. (Within reason obviously)

I've got one guy on my station who's just celebrated his 412th birthday and 600th year in the fire service!!!
