Foam Making Branch Pipe-as pe UL-162
« on: August 07, 2007, 12:26:16 PM »
I am interested in procurement of foam making branch pipe as per UL-162 with branch induction. Induction of foam concentrate shall be 3 to 3.9 % of flow of water and quality and other parameters shall match UL 162 requirements. Can any body respond to this technical query??

It's a long time since I had anything to do with foam testing, I will admit. I cannot recall the detail of UL162; is this for small-scale foam tests or full-size? If small-scale it is a lot better to make up a pre-mixed foam solution as the mix proportion can be made quite accurately rather than relying on induction with variables of temperature, viscosity etc. This can also be done for full size testing but you of course need a large tank of known size and matching quantity of foam concentrate; gets expensive!
You may need to go to the USA to get your branch-pipe if you do not have access to a workshop that can construct one for you to the UL standard.
