As the new kite is about to come into service, soon to take maden passenger flight (from hongkong to auz?), just wondered if anyone knows what category fire cover is required, and will airports be 'upping' their crew & vehicle status for these flights?

I'm pretty much certain that it will be a Cat 10 aircraft, and as such will have the RFFS resources for that category.

Hopefully one of the Heathrow/Manchester lads can enlighten me, cos that'll be the only place that'll be seeing it!

Ye, Fireguy hit the nail on the head.

The first passenger A380 is due into Heathrow on 18th March and we need to be at CAT 10, we will be the first UK airfield with this CAT. Although we have no more manpower/water or foam than CAT 9 we have had to buy a high lift vehicle. We bought a new 42m ALP which arrived late last year and the crews are training with it now.
Isn't it funny, how if you sit in a library and scream, everyone looks at you and tuts...but do the same thing on an aircraft and everyone joins in!
