Low dB level

Recently involved with a refurbishment. Client had AFD overhauled (part new system). My part involved representing for hand over and acceptance at completion of works. Pre test of AFD, the *** engineer told me the dB levels were too low in 2 rooms. When I asked why he hadn't rectified this, he said it was not up him! We confirmed by test low dB's. and client has since changed to multi heads det/sound.. job done.  I told client not to pay for this part as original requirement was quite specific to meet all parts of relvant BS's. To top this, sounders emitted dig=fferent tones in different parts of build !!! Who approves these people from supposedly reputable wid known company?

there are loads of crap engineers that hide under the national umbrella.

not all of them but a they are out there for sure.

Not knowing all the facts.... but to be fair it isn't necessarily down to the commissioning/handover engineer to put such defects right, it should have been reported back to the designer prior to handover for rectification.

David, the engineer did not bother to report it back.  I asked for the a copy of the design, which could not be produced (there's a surprise). I think it was a case of 'here looks ok' on instal. Still - Hey Ho!

Nothing strange here , you are either the school of lets try and put the right amount of sounders/bells in and get it right first time , or lets whack 3 in and see what happens .
When it fails you need more alarm bells sounders Mr Customer .

They then produce a lovely section of document that tells the customer why they cant guarantee the sound pressure levels .

Which is fair enough as it sometimes a bit trick dependent on the situation , however by installing sounders in an open area and whacking them up full belt , to try and compensate for other areas is not on.

Good even distirbuted sound is what should be designed from the start .
