Network labels problem
« on: July 21, 2009, 08:32:04 PM »
We had a network labels problem, see the picture below; the panel 6 is only linked to panel 3 through interface because it hasn't got network card, but when alarm goes off in building 6, we want it to report to reception panel that the fire is in building 6, is that feasible, and how?

Apparently we have tried on several occasion, but the message that comes up in reception panel P1 is; ' fire in panel 3 ' instead of ' fire in panel 6 '. How can we make the interface label of panel 3 linked to panel 6, to be displayed at the reception panel in case alarm goes off, and particularly saying  ' fire in building 6' ?

Thank you

Regardless of the manufacturer, through a network the system will 'appear' as panel 3 activated, as the interface on panel 3 will have triggered.  Although this interfaces 'text description' could be programmed to say 'Fire activation panel 6' for example.  Although the staff would need to be fully aware of this as on first glance it would appear as a panel 3 activation until further investigation into the exact text description.

Out of curiosity, whats the manufacturer of system in this instance..?

It's a Gent systems but mixed up old and new versions..., but it's possible to label the concerned ITF in panel 3 as; ' fire in panel 6 ' why this label didn't come up in reception panel, when making a live test in panel 6?

I assume the existing network of Gent is a BS network and the new panel is an EN54 panel...? therefore preventing it to be networked?

Are u absolutely sure the text label for the interface unit has the correct label you require..?  Whats being indicated at present..?  And does it come up indicated a 'fire' condition illuminating the fire LED on the main panel..?

Yes it comes up as fire condition with red LED but with panel 3 Node's label instead of the concerned ITF's label...
