Department of Health withdraws fire safety advice.
« on: November 19, 2009, 05:33:50 PM »
The DH fire safety team will no longer offer technical advice.  :(

The fire safety policy lead at the Department of Health has issued a statement saying that following a re-organisation of  the  work  undertaken  by  the  Gateway  Reviews,  Estates & Facilities Division  within  the  Department of Health, to align it with how the wider Department  works, the fire safety team have been moved  from  NHS  fire  safety  work  and  now  work wholly on the Premises Assurance Model project.  As a consequence general  advice on NHS fire safety will no longer be part of the work the Department does.

It's staggering how a Government Department can be so short-sighted in the not too distant wake of a series of high profile, fires in the NHS.  ???
