Fire alarms for the blind and deaf
« on: June 05, 2010, 09:00:42 AM »
Any info please on the following:-

a, Domestic smoke detector which has a test facility for the blind. Maybe remote test facility. Fob, remote test switch etc

b, Portable detector for the deaf. Under pillow type which operates when an audible alarm sounds.

Any knowledge or alternatives welcome on these.

Morning ,
Don't know of a domestic that can do this , however you could agree th position of the detector and have a maker ie known to that person in relation to the floor layout , and then give them a can of smoke , the new sabre by no climb , which has the dispersal telescopic attachment , might be worth a look.

Just put in some DEAFGARD units , works for me , just check the sound level to trigger them .

Regards
Its time to make a counter attack !

A friend of mine who has a hearing impairment (just so its PC) has a light right next to her bed which flashes and vibrates if the fire alarm goes off.  Apparently its very good by her account.
