Good point, NT.

I was consulted once on a sheltered housing (termed 'very sheltered housing' - their phrase) development where "jumpy outy" windows were proposed for the first floor bedrooms because the bedrooms were inner to the living room and kitchen.  They complied with ADB stipulations and I was powerless to influence the design.  There were many of these flats and I am sure there is a good probability that the design will result in at least one death during the lifetime of the building, it will only take one resident to leave something on the cooker and then nod off in the bedroom - the classic scenario.

One of your ex-colleagues did his BEng dissertation on inner-room bedrooms with sprinklers in the access room and I believe that he proved that even with sprinklers the access room would be untenable.

do you know if any similare test has been carried out, or report exists to show this? would be a very interesting read.
