2010 Building Regulations
« on: November 15, 2010, 06:07:56 PM »
For those who are not aware, the 2010 version of the Building Regulations has SI no 2214 and the approved inspectors is no 2215 plus some other bits appertaining to NI and Scotland in the series.  All available from Legislation.co.uk.

All my responses only apply to England and Wales and they are an overview of the subject, hopefully it will point you in the right direction and always treat with caution.

I don't think ADB is due to change until 2013.  The differnece in this document is that Reg 16b is now reg 38.

Its just a consolidation so there are very few substantive changes. The only one I'm aware of is a change to the definition of rooms for residential purpose (which deosn't affect Part B)

The Online ADs will eventually be updated with the new reg numbers.

Will there ever be a new AD B.  Will there always be a wee b. Watch these spaces for the next thrilling installment. From the producers of the Fire Safety Order and the trashy guides that support them, CLG are proud to present ..................nothing much of use to mankind (apart from AD B). Now showing at a house of horrors near you.

According to Colin the RRO is no good, the guides are no good and AD B isn't any good either. Perhaps we should just let him write everything in the world. What a wonderful world that would be; welcome to Todd's World.

The documents and guides and AD B are there to be used; obviously less than perfect but hey complaining about them isn't going to improve things. Work with them like everyone else has to.

Speyside for Prime Minister!

You should read Colin Todd's Comprehensive Guide to Fire Safety. (Available in all good bookshops) (Other fire safety guides are available) I only had to read a couple of pages before he told a lie about Approved Inspectors enforcing Building Regulations. I stopped reading after that, if I want to be lied to I go on Wikipedia.

Speyside, If you read my posting correctly, which I advocate to all, you would find that I EXCluded AD B from my criticism.  Because it is the only thing useful to the fire world that the CLG produce, there will probably not be another edition.

As for the rest, when you write a book Clevey and find someone to publish it let me know and I will be first to seek an autographed copy.

Sorry Colin, I am that used to you knocking everything produced by civil servants; I didn’t fully take in the bracketed comment. I actually only posted the ‘dig’ because you seem to be so intent on knocking others in your posts and not contributing technically to the discussion I thought I would have a go and see if I enjoyed it, I can’t say I did. I won’t be visiting Todd world again! (I think I would be turned away at the border now anyway)

I didn't realise that you had to be able to perform a specific action to be able to criticise others attempts.

Someone has better tell those people at Top Gear that until they can design and build their own car that they should just shut up and drive them.
