We have not yet had any postings about the counterfeit fire alarm cable scandal.

At a meeting of the FIA last week we were shown a sample of counterfeit fire alarm cable. It would have fooled me , the manufacturers of this junk have gone to huge lengths to make it appear genuine, but apparently it was found to burn through in about 90 seconds.

To my eyes the conductors looked a little hard and brassy (apparently the electrical resistance is substantially higher than copper) and the insulation on the conductors harder than on genuine cable. I wonder how far this rubbish has penetrated the market?

I saw this on the 'Fake Britain' TV programme a couple of days ago. Very worrying. Fire resistant cable purchasers should be aware that this 'fake' cable is being sold.

and all are being fooled.  FP 200 at £80 a 100m roll and people cutting corners to save how much.
