Interview Stage
« on: August 25, 2011, 11:20:19 AM »
Hi guys, I've just joined the Forum today as I'm currently going through the recruitment proccess and one of the guys I done the last stage with told me theses forums are very helpful and useful for getting hints and tips to help you along the proccess. I've reached the interview stage and I was wandering if anyone has any useful hints or tips that could maybe help me prepare better for my interview? Thanks

I never went through any recruitment process to get on to this forum!

I certainly never had an interview!

It will probably be based on you producing evidence you have the required PQA’s Personal Qualities and Attributes.

Have a look at the Department of Communities and Local Government website.

Who have you applied to?

Funny that there is nothing in the 4 main roles of a firefighter about saving life and property from fire. Have fires been eradicated?

You could have a look at the national firefighter selection link on the skills for justice website

Steph,

the link that civvy posted earlier is a decent site with plenty of information or these ones if you want to part with some cash - note they say that the London and Scottish interviews are different from the rest of the country (typical!).

http://www.how2become.co.uk/products/firefighter/

you have to understand it is many years since many on here were in front of an interview panel for recruitment! The best advice I can give is to make sure you have examples of how you have met the criteria in the posts above for the PQAs and be prepared to describe the situations. Be interesting and it will get you points - believe me an interviewer needs some stimulation to stay awake as it can be a long day.

Golden, thanks very much. That's very helpful. Typical that London and Scotland are different from the rest...it's a Scottish brigade I'm going for. Thanks again.
