In summary and in my opinion, quantities less than 50 litres can be kept inside a building if they are kept in suitably design cabinets. The cabinets should comply with the 1972 act - in summary be of robus construction, resist accidental damage and be of at least 30 minutes fire resistance.
Within the cabinet the petrol should be within a closed non combustible container (not glass).
You should never have more than a days supply inside.
The rules for diesel are less strict than for petrol.
