Liquidation perhaps, but is it really possible for Manston to close being in the busy SE air corridor???

Surely it will re-emerge from the ashes in a new guise

Well, I would like to offer some official FireNet sympathy.

Have we any users from Manston on the board?

Hopefully it will, it is an ex-RAF base that turned civilian, and was very active in the second world war. It has a huge run way and was/is a big employer for the north east Kent region. I have heard that there have been some big players looking into taking the airport over. Will have to wait and see.

Wouldn't suprise me if Peel Holdings look it over, especially if there is business park potential at the site. But don't expect that to save airside ops - they bought sheffield, ran it down to a private flyers helipad & it's now shutting down to redevelop. Final cost - £1!

The runway will still be there, just won't be anyone to put the fire out!

How about Toronto?

They are quite successful in emergency landings I understand

Matt

Do you know of anyone who might know of any airports that are recruiting fire fighters. I was one of the unfotunate lads to be laid off at manston, doesn't look like anything is going to happen up there in the near future.

Cheers

Pete
