Mobility Scooter Storage
« on: July 01, 2014, 10:30:06 AM »
Good morning folks,

Silly question time again I'm afraid.

We have a number of residents who store and charge their mobility scooters in sheds at their sheltered housing schemes, is there a minimum distance that they should be from the main building? I'm quite happy about purpose built external storage areas.

I have a figure of 6m in mind but cannot find or remember where I read it. Any advice is gratefully received as always.

Regards,

Geoff

No such thing as a silly question.

I think 6m is reasonable, the figure is generally used for skips. Although some recommend 10m for skips. Anyway back to the question.

It also depends on the situation, if it is against an outside wall with no openings then the wall will provide adequate fire resistance.

Interesting video here showing tests -

Suppers, they ruined that perfectly good scooter.  it could have been Kurnal's next company car.
