Magnesum powder fire extinguishing solution

Dear Forum,

I am hoping that someone can let me know what effective solutions exist in the situation whereby a large volume of Class D metal powders catch fire? EG Magnesium.

My Company has developed a water based (yes water based) solution for the type of fire and I was curious as to know what other effective fire fighting solutions exist in this instance.

Currently the use of Class D rated dry powders using Sodium Choride or Graphite either via scoop, sack, portable extinguisher or wheeled large capacity extinguisher is common.

Water based agents such as Cold Fire have also been around for a long time with a Class D capability and even water mist has been tested on some metals.

According to their past literature Croda-Kerr's Cetrimax ABC Powder has been tested and it was found that a 12kg extinguisher with a low velocity applicator could extinguish 1kg of Magnesium
