Annex F of BS EN 12845 - 2015
« on: February 24, 2015, 04:52:25 PM »
I read that Annex F of BS EN 12845 (Special requirements for life safety systems) is/has been re-titled to read 'Additional measures to improve system reliability and availability'  ... anyone aware of this?

Have you a copy of a new version, BS EN 12845:2004+A2:2009 is still shown as the current version?
All my responses only apply to England and Wales and they are an overview of the subject, hopefully it will point you in the right direction and always treat with caution.

It appears the new version is to be published soon but not yet available yet, unless you have a draft copy. Check out http://standardsdevelopment.bsigroup.com/Home/Project/201301666 the only one available is the 2009 version.

Our friends in the rest of Europe didn't like the suggestion that only Annex F compliant systems were OK for Life Safety applications.

TBH I agree with them. Time we dropped it?

Yep - I'm reliably informed that when the new standard is issued (I have August in mind for some reason?) no longer will it mention "Life safety" sprinklers - the terminology will be as the OP suggests.

Should end the debate about whether the flexibility allowed by BS9999 for sprinkler-protected areas only applies if they comply with that annexe!
