Does anyone have reliable statistics on the location of the room or area of fire origin in care homes?

I don't have any stats but I know of two near misses in homes - because the FB was not called then they would not be in any stats. How many causes of fire are not being recorded nationwide and what can be done about it - if we don't know how can we learn of the risk to enable prevention?

I don?t have data in respect of care homes the data below is based on our sheltered/very sheltered sites (21 Sheltered complexes, 2 very Sheltered complexes).

Not sure it will be of use but may be comparable to some extent.

The data is for activations of the fire detection systems and where the activation took place.

Data for 2015

Total activations: 160

Location of activations:
Kitchen 141 (88%)
Living Room 4 (2.5%)
Hallway 2 (1.25%)
Bedroom 0

There were a total of 13 (8%) activations where it was a fault with the system or no reason for the activation could be determined/owned up to by the tenant.

A bit out of date now but there is a good table on page 45 showing details of fatal fires in care homes from 1996-2002.

Thanks everyone for your responses, especially Ted Heath. It was really good of you to go to that trouble.  I now have the data I need, so do not need any more.  Thanks again though.

Colin, any chance of sharing the stats once you've compiled them?

COBA, I am not really compiling.  I just wanted confirmation of something, which I now have.  Sorry I cannot be of more help to you.
