Hi,

Is there a contemporary stat available which tells me out of all the fires attended by the fire and rescue service, how many necessitated evacuation and what the numbers involved were?
Some people are like clouds. When they disappear it's a brighter day.

I think that would be hard tp find, unless you know specifically what you are looking for? You try by fire authority area?

Page 20 of the Purpose Built Flats Guide gives some indication -

In 2009-2010, of over 8,000 fires in these blocks, only 22  fires necessitated evacuation of more than five people with the assistance of the  fire and rescue service.

Hi Dave,

I've seen that stat in the guide.  Was looking for something more contemporary as per the question.

From memory, which is by no means infallible,  I believe that the figures from 2014 and 2015 indicate that of all the fires that occured in purpose built blocks of flats, the evacuation of flats beyond the flat of fire origin, was instigated by the F&RS at 0.25% of incidents.

I suspect that the venerable MrT will have more precise, and verifiable data.

The DCLG, Incident Recording System has questions that relate to what information you require (3.6, 9.1 to 9.5) unfortunately IRS was after my time, but you could bell the DCLG or any operational guys you know or local fire station.

Check out https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/11806/Incident_Recording_System_-_Questions_and_Lists_-_Version_1.6_-__XML_Schemas_v1-0p__in_use_from_April_2012.pdf
All my responses only apply to England and Wales and they are an overview of the subject, hopefully it will point you in the right direction and always treat with caution.

fire stats belong to the Home Office now, not DCLG
