wooden balconies
« on: September 26, 2019, 08:30:02 AM »
Old topic I know, but the business I work for have just told me they are incorporating wooden balconies in their developments (flats). There's nothing good about them. They are outside all the flats and by balconies the typical plan will be 4 sided!  Fire has the potential to spread like allllll the other flat fires of late.

Question I have is, would you continue working for this business, or would you feel that you have to leave to avoid one day saying 'I did try and warn you!'

Personally, I'm torn and would like to know what others would do.

Thanks

Try and educate them, if they don?t want to listen, leave as there?s plenty of jobs out there at the moment and clients who genuinely want to do the right thing.
I?ve had clients asking for justification assessments instead of external wall or balcony assessments.
I?m noticing the insurers and mortgage providers are the ones challenging this issue.

Considering everywhere is being told to remove them you would hope the building control process would wake up to this and stop them.....but I wouldn't hold my breath!
