Interspiro QS BA Set
« on: January 16, 2006, 11:19:44 AM »
In short:

3 Brigades got together (Cambs, Lincs and Norfolk) and procured a BA set with their mighty joint buying arm!  The Interspiro QS BA Set.

As a regular user of it I can only say what utter utter crap!  Coming from the Draeger PA90 series we seem to have gone back in time.

No padding in the straps, flimsy waist buckles that keep breaking, fresh air ports (a recipe for disaster!), facemasks which have to be pulled off the back of your head to get a seal.  Uncomfortable rubber tabs on facemask straps. Several occasions of the set failing under pressure.

Bring back the Draeger, it may be a 10 year old set but I still would have confidence in wearing it.

Anybody any comments? (Please don't bore me with safety over comfort issues, when you wear the set perhaps two or three times on a night shift comfort is important!)
I am sorry if I offend anybody although if gold medals were dished out for it I would have quite a few!!

Rich, A few years ago when the new QS set came out Tyne & Wear trialed it as they were already an Interspiro user.

After the trial it was decided the set as a whole was not as good as the previous Interspiro, so they took the good bits and came up with a set with all the best bits on.

It has padding in the straps, a very good harness and belt buckle assembly!

We do not have the fresh air port either!

It also has probably the best face mask available on the market. I know that even Draeger beleieve the facemask is better than theirs! Although they would not ever admit it!

Yes, it does not have the electronic stuff that the Draeger does but overall it is an excellent set.

Also Tyne & Wear have made adjustments along the way (in conjunction with Interspiro) to improve the set even more.
Any views I express are my own and not my employers. Still confused!

i used the sabre centurion, drager pa-90 plus and an interspiro off a ship that was in... i got to say... drager all the way, i just feel safe and secure with it, dunno why it just feels sturdy and robust as if nothin will go wrong.
