Hi to one and all. I'm dealing with a difficult issue concerning distance of travel from the front door of a flat ( ie  is it 9m and if so when can that be relaxed depending on facts and circumstances, and also does it apply to all flats or just some),.Anyway I was wondering if anyone has a link to the 1971 code of practice because that's got to be my starting point and I can't find one. Welcome goooders. I am going to split this posting off later to create it as a new topic under Fire Safety. I  have scans of the old CP3 - jut let me know what year your flat was built so we make sure you are looking at the right version. I would recommend the LGA publication available for free download here:

Thanks. The flat was built mid 1970s so I do actually need the 1971 version ( I know it's recommended guidance only) Fantastic that you might have a scanned copy. Will specify the issue exactly when I've read through. All the best

Hi Everybody,

I joined today My name is Alex and I am the HSE manager of a medical device manufacturer. We have 20 sites in the UK, mostly based in Hampshire and employ 3000. Globally we have sites in lots of places (US/ EU / JP) and employ 7000+.

I'm a mamber of IOSH and similar groups and LinkedIn groups, but this board struck me as being very active, full of useful info without being too stuffy!

One of my pet hates on HSE forums is you ask a question and you get back the stock answer of "do a risk assessment". I am doing the risk assessment, I've realsed I don't have all the knowledge and that's why I'm on the forum asking the question!

I hope i can help at some point, but i'm more likely to be here to get my peers opinions.
