Imported counterfeit cigarettes
« on: April 18, 2014, 04:15:37 PM »
Are imported counterfeit cigarettes a major danger to us in the UK?

All my responses only apply to England and Wales and they are an overview of the subject, hopefully it will point you in the right direction and always treat with caution.

Seems like very dubious figures to me, unless the Fire Reports are now recording the make of the smoking material that started the fire.
The presence of those seeking the truth is infinitely to be preferred to those who think they've found it.

The article fails to pick up on that point.

Smoking materials are a common cause of fire. Pretty reliable fact

RIP cigarettes reduce the risk - Probably true but by how much is harder to prove.

Fake fags are a significant problem for fire safety - err hang on

They're only the same as all other fags were a few years ago. As the comment in the article suggests - fake fags are more likely to be smoked by people who are already vulnerable to fire and are more likely to be associated with other risk factors such as smoking these cigarettes indoors.

P.S. Those pesky self extinguishing cigarettes are a pain when golfing cos they keep going out when you drop them down to play a shot.

But other than use those, are there any other alternative?
