Fire Risk Assessments / Re: Enhanced Fire Risk Assessment

Sounds like a marketing upsell - either it's suitable and sufficient or it isn't.

I can only guess that it might include property protection or a more intrusive compartmentation & fire door survey.

I have come across types 1 to 4 fire risk assessments, however I have now come across the term @Enhanced fire risk Assessment'. Has anyone else come across this term, and if so can you provide some context to its use? Thank you.

Fire Risk Assessments / Fire Resistance of Dry Riser outlet boxes
« Last post by Stobswellpond on October 31, 2023, 08:31:55 PM »
Hi, I'm looking for a pointer where I can find information on the fire rating of  a dry riser outlet box. The face of the box is in a protected lobby, and the riser pipe is in a service riser with all other services. The service riser itself goes the full height of the building 20 storeys and has a metal grating floor at each floor level. Have been unable to put my hands on the fire strategy yet, however the riser doors between the risers and protected lobby appear to be FD30S.

Thanks Anthony, managed to dissuade my client from buying them to replace extinguishers.

I tried attaching it, but the file size limit is tiny!

I've shared a link to where people can see it https://www.safelincs-forum.co.uk/topic/20872-alternative-exits/

It's not a new concept, just a new take on the Chimfex, invented in the 50's/60's in the US by a road flare manufacturer with a different formulation focussing on the production of a vapour capable of fie suppression rather than a bright signal flare. The original is popular and apparently effective on Chimney fires for which it was developed.

This new version is multi-class, but is incapable of extinguishing the smallest EN3 test fires (unlike many of the small aerosol can based extinguishers, particularly the BS665 & DIN compliant ones) it has gone through independent testing at an Italian test house, but it had to invent new bespoke tests for it as it can only deal with certain situations.

It can't replace an approved extinguisher, but for certain niche applications may have some advantages.

Plenty of shill videos out there of it's efficacy in certain set up situations, but just as many showing it's limitations - if I really wanted something cheap & small then BS6165 aerosol can extinguishers or DIN approved fire extinguishing sprays, both having EN3 fire ratings would be my choice, not the various sticks, balls and non fire rated sprays that are out there.

Well I went to another forum that you are a frequent subscriber to Anthony, where it was a simple matter of copy and paste.
However, this forum seems to have more of a solid base of professionals and for that reason it is my go to forum for technical assistance.
The ability to post a diagram in a simple action would be of great benefit.

I think it has to be hosted as an image somewhere and hyperlinked in using 'insert image' or added as an attachment

Any one advise how to post a diagram. On other forums I just use the snip tool and paste, very simple. Obviously missing something!
