Idol, the OED rules used to be that if a word had a Greek route you could ONLY use the z form for ize.  However, no one learns Greek any more, so they relaxed the rule a bit and changed it to one along the lines that, where there is a choice, the Z form is the OED preferred, but the ise is a second form of spelling.  The entire guide is written with the ize form, as OED is our own preferred style, though we do let the team ise ise if they really want to.  However , for formal published work such as this we stick to OED.

Colin, unfortunately my version of the final published work does not appear to stick to the OED.   :-\ #justsaying

Yes Colin, I do know what you mean, but perhaps it is just that the English language is merely continuing to evolve as it has done since ye olde times.
