Approximately 60!!! how very dare you! Chris this must surely qualify as an abusive post, can we not punish Retty in some way?

A day spraying into the wind with Cleveland fire would give him something to think about, or perhaps send him for a walk near a pine forest on a dry summers day with some boy scouts and kindling!

Wonderful idea!

The scouts would light a fire and Cleveland would put it out

Infact I do believe he could be the World's first portable human water mist system.

Ah yes....that was many moons ago ...before PC Stamp started to impersonate me. I have been known to frequent the odd hostelry in Cheam whilst living there and working in Wandsworth, near to Youngs brewery spookily enough. Now that's a beer that would test the northern shandy drinkers from Cleveland!

I could drink you under the table at the 19th hole anyday matey boy.

You southerners can be very cocky, all mouth and no trousers in my experience. Everyone knows Northerners are a tougher breed. So wind your neck in and admit defeat before this gets very messy.

Hey, PhilB is in Gloucestershire and that is North of the river and makes him a Northerner.

No Jokar I'm afraid not. I must admit that when I lived and worked in our wonderful capital city I too thought that anything north of Watford was classed as The North. I am now much older and wiser.

Northern folk are those that reside in the vast region north of Stow on the Wold. They are a strange folk with a wierd dialect.

I think this get togeher should definately be held in Gloucestershire, probably in the Welly Pub, the beer is good and they are used to dealing with diverse customers from around the UK.

There is a large carpark that would be ideal for spraying your Newky Brown into the wind. They often have guest beers and we could arrange for London Pride to be on and some shandy for Cleveland of course...and Irun Bru if Dennis is coming. What does uncle Kurnal drink?? I'll get some Malibu in for Retty and Civvy.

Malibu may suit gentle folk who play golf (especially the rotund variety who like rolling around large muddy puddles / ditches with young verile firemen and then make on it is all innocent !)

Guiness is my preferred poison. A pint of Bishops Finger (You can get cream for that) or stout ale always goes down very nicely too.

But being a Midlander I suppose I should stay loyal to Banks's ! The Scottish and Clevendlanders amongst us will be able to handle it but Cockney Cotswoldians may find even the vapours far too strong and intoxicating.

Thanks?

Being somewhat of a northerner I would rather drink some nice bitter. But since Moreton is 'down south' the malibu actually sounds better than your southern excuse for beer.

Although the Boddintons from the London Bar serves its purpose.

Gentleman,
Lets call time on this.
Most beer is nats compared to 20-30 years ago. PhilB, Newcy is a good example.
However, as a Yorkie boy (with Welsh roots) I have to concede that in most places in GB you can get a decent pint if you suss out where to go. Fullers 1689 for instance (Chiswick Brewery) is a very nice 6.9% bottle, ESB on draft slips down a treat too..
Retty has a point about Bishops Finger too.
As far as the Prof is concerned, I have only seen him drink Coke with his lunch, but he was working at the time. I have to concede he can scoff for England but most of you FS lads are probably just as bad.

The end of September would be a smashing time to arrange this, and Moreton would be a splendid venue.

And this has nothing to do with me being on a Moreton course at the end of September!

Not that I'm admitting to being a beer bore (or should that be boar?), but I have been in the Inn on the Marsh, I think it's called, and they have always had an excellent range of real ales (usually in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide). It's down the far end of Moreton-in-Marsh village. I think it may have a reputation as a bit of a locals pub but I've never had any problems.

The last time I was on a course at the College, one of the lads wrote an itinary so we could have a pint in every pub/bar in the village on the same night. He actually stayed over on the Friday afternoon to make sure he got his timings right (had to drive back to Sussex afterwards!) We managed to do it, although the 30 minutes allocated to each pub was a serious underestimation! We also managed to fit in a bag of chips. Didn't do to well at the exam the following day though.
